Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study aimed to predict the newborns of anemic pregnant women while they were still in the intrapartum period by evaluating the newborn apgar scores together with fetal Doppler ultrasounds in patients who were planned for elective cesarean section. Materials and Methods: This study was planned prospectively and after the approval of Yıldırım Beyazıt University Ethics Committee, 71 patients with anemia who were scheduled for elective cesarean section were referred to Ankara Bilkent City Hospital Antenatal outpatient clinics and emergency service between 01/05/2022 and 31/10/2022 before cesarean section. Fetal ultrasound was performed and after cesarean section, we were determined as our study group by looking at the newborn findings. In addition, fetal ultrasound and newborn values of 130 pregnant women who were randomly selected from healthy pregnancies with the same characteristics as the case group were included in this study by forming a control group. A total of 201 pregnant women were included. Results: We saw in this study that the values in fetal Doppler indices, which are already known to be associated with fetal anemia, can also indicate maternal anemia, and we concluded that newborn 5th minute apgare may also be affected by maternal anemia. Conclusion: It has been seen that it is possible for us to predict and take precautions about newborns with easy and inexpensive ultrasound measurements and hemogram parameters that we routinely use in our obstetrics clinic. Considering the effects of maternal anemia, which is a subject for which there is not much study yet, on cpr and ucr in our study, we obtained significant results that anemia has an effect on fetal ucr measurements. At the same time, we found that maternal anemia had a negative effect on the newborn's 5th minute Apgar.
