Abstract (EN)

Aim: In this study, we aimed that investigate the publication status, research designs, subjects and levels of evidence of the theses written in the field of Anesthesiology and Reanimation between 1970 and 2015 by using the database of the National Thesis Center. Materials and Methods: In our study, after the theses written in the field of Anesthesiology and Reanimation between 1970 and 2016 were reached through the National Thesis Center, these theses were searched in Google, Google Scholar and PubMed and TR Index TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM search engines. research was conducted in terms of levels of evidence. The authors of the theses, subjects, research designs, levels of evidence, the institution in which the thesis was made, the thesis advisors, the academic titles of the advisors, the publication status of the dissertations, the date of publication of the dissertations, the name of the published journal, country, continent, language, impact factor, and citation count specified. Results: A total of 2803 theses written in the field of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Specialization in the Thesis Archive page of the National Thesis Center of Higher Education Institution (YÖK) between January 1, 1970 and December 31, 2016 were included in the scope of our study. Of the examined theses, 2714 (96,8%) were from universities and 89 (3,2%) were theses from Ministry of Health education and research hospitals. It was determined that 1964 (70,1%) of the theses were conducted within the institutions of Ankara and the cities located in the west of Ankara and 839 (29,9%) of the theses were conducted in the institutions located in the eastern cities of Ankara. When the distribution of theses by years is examined, it was determined that the most theses were made in 2011 with 296 (10,6%) theses. When evidence levels of theses were evaluated, 1603 (57,2%) B evidence level (randomized controlled / randomized single-double blind designed studies), 597 (21,3%) C evidence level (prospective), 346 (12,3%) (F) level (animal experiment, experimental studies), 257 (9,2%) D level (retrospective studies). It was determined that 719 (25,7%) of the theses were published. In 599 (83,3%) of the published theses, the first name in the publication was the same as the name of the thesis owner. The difference between the thesis and publication year was between 0-14 years and the mean was 3.14 ± 2.26. When the indexes of the journals in which they are published are examined, 367 (51,0%) of them are in national journals, 293 (40,8%) of them are SCI-E, 25 (3,5%) of them are SCI and 34 (4,7%) of them. was published in other journals. Over the years, the rate of dissertation studies in prospective design is decreasing; It was determined that experimental and retrospective thesis studies increased (p <0,05). In the correlation analysis, there was a weak negative correlation between publication year and number of study citations, between publication year and journal's impaction, between thesis year and journal implication, and between thesis year and number of study citations. It was determined that there was a weak positive correlation between thesis year and number of study cases, between thesis year and PubMed, between publication year and number of study cases, publication year and PubMed. Conclusion: Although the number of prospectively designed theses and clinical theses in the field of anesthesiology and reanimation has decreased over the years, there has been an increase in the number of theses turned into publications. Although the rate of publication of theses published in international and SCI-E journals has increased, it is noteworthy that the rate of dissertation published in SCI journals and the impact factors of journals have decreased over the years. Future theses in the field of anesthesiology and reanimation should be studied to increase the theses that can be published in higher journals.
