A training and knowledge appraisal on frequency of first aid cases and first aid comprehension levels of the workers of a furniture manufacturing factory in Ankara - Akyurt

This study aims the enhancement of the first aid comprehension levels and knowledge of workers at a furniture manufacturing factory in Ankara-Akyurt by setting the frequency of first aid cases and current first aid awareness levels. That is a definitive type study. The location of the study is 155 workers of MOB furniture factory in Ankara-Akyurt district. It is planned to reach all 155 workers. However 48 personnel were out of the country only 76.4% percent of the personnel were reached. The participants were applied pre test by face to face meeting technique. 61 personnel were trained on first aid subject, and second test was applied with the same form at the same time.The personnel to be interviewed are in the 41 - 50 age group which is 49 % of the total, 91.6 (142 person) men and 69 % (107 person) is blue collar. It is understood that in one year period June 2008 - June 2009, 45 person (29 %) at least one time first aid needed. There is no difference between age groups first aid comprehension but due to education level, comprehension level increases. It is also described that participants who have first aid kits at their homes, have the higher level of first aid comprehension respectively.With that study, the 155 personnel of the MOB factory is aimed to enhance of their first aid knowledge levels by training and define the frequency of first aid cases. The tests applied to convince pre- education and post -education levels and any participants? first aid knowledge points calculated as of 100 points. It is seen and proved that, the training increased the points approximately 34.8 points and that increase in the level of difference is not deliberate.
