Abstract (EN)

The practice of the concept of sustainability, which was developed as a solution to environmental problems, is examined in the field of architecture, like many other disciplines. In order to reduce these negativities, the construction industry has tried to produce new solutions by designing environmentally friendly, energy-saving structures and developing the green building approach. Large-scale office buildings have a greater environmental impact during construction, use and demolition compared to other building types. Therefore, the development of sustainable architecture principles and design methods has an important place in research on sustainability. With the increase in green building practices, there has been a need to obtain certification for buildings that comply with sustainable building standards. In this context, the US-based LEED system is one of the most widely preferred. In this study, LEED certified office buildings in Ankara were examined. These buildings were evaluated according to LEED criteria and certain questions were asked through interviews with their architects or site managers. Additionally, a survey was administered to office employees to measure user satisfaction. It is thought that the study will contribute to the determination of the deficiencies in the green building certification systems in our country and the work to eliminate these deficiencies.
