Examination of city square in Ankara in terms of urbanaesthetics and function

The study area is Ankara Ulus Square, Kızılay Square and Anadolu (Tandoğan) Squares. In this study, researching the city, square, city squares and revealing them with the determined criteria constitute the main scheme of the thesis. Scope of work; Developments and changes were determined by making use of the plans designed for Ulus, Kızılay and Tandoğan Squares and their surroundings. These areas were analyzed with the help of 'Spatial Quality Parameters'. spatial quality; are considered as glaring differences in design (Rapoport 1977). With the research and survey studies, the city squares were analyzed and the change in the city squares from the past to the present has been revealed. The frequency of use, awareness, reasons for preference, comfort, user status and focal points of these areas, and transition points of users have been determined. It is within the scope of this thesis to make city squares more lively, aesthetic, functional and places where they can spend quality time. After the questionnaires were coded into SPSS 20.0 (Statistical Package For Social Science) software, with the help of functional quality, aesthetic quality and construction quality analyzes, the general profiles of the people participating in the questionnaire and their answers to the questionnaire were analyzed. As a result, the values obtained are summed, and the highest value shows the order closest to the desired characteristics in the context of spatial quality. The found values and quality parameters were revealed and the aesthetic values, quality and functionality of the images of the city were determined by the public.
