Examining the koran existing in Ankara ethnography museum

In the research, it has been considered as problem that the publications performed concerning Koran ornamentation existing in our penmanship are limited, and it has been aimed to examine the ornamentation characteristics of Koran that was taken in the sampling group in order to constitute source for the ones who are concerned in our traditional arts. The universe of the research has been constituted by Korans existing in Ankara Ethnography Museum, and I have profitted from the 10039 inventory numbered Koran existing in the museum as sampling. In the research, a descriptive research method in the survey model in order to reveal the designing principles of Turkish ornamentation arts, its period, its usage area, and its applications, and the ornamentations existing in Koran have been photographed and archived to investigate Koran taken in to the sampling group in detail, and they have been supported by the information forms. Benefiting from the data obtained, the characteristics of period have been tried to transfer in order. In the scope of the research, I have benefitted from the libraries in Ankara and in the other cities of Turkey and through internet. In the research, the following results have been briefly made out. It has been tried to determine that the ornamentation elements existing in the Koran taken in to sampling have got the characteristic of the period. The one to one drawings of the illumination ornamentations existing in Koran taken in to the sampling have been made. The writing, binding, composition, colour, and motive characteristics of Koran have been determined. It has been seen in this work that the beaks, wings and legs of the animals existing in the nature were made unrecognizable getting stylized, and they were formed by the rumi patterns. In addition, it has been determined that there are the viisymmetrical compozitions at the general structure of the art, and the classical colours of the period have dominated. However, it has been specified that its binding doesn?t belong to its original period of the work, and that it was rebinded within the period when it was repaired.
