Investigation of goiter prevalance and hormone levels in adult in Ankara city center

GÜLDERENYENTÜRB L M DALI: BES N ANAL ZLER VE BESLENME B L M DALIYILI: 2007STATÜSÜ: YÜKSEK L SANS TEZOur study aims researching of goiter prevalence in Ankara.Different individuals admitted to Microbiology Laboratory of Gazi UniversityHealth Culture and Sport Department with thyroid to be thyroid have been studied. In ourresearch individuals born in Ankara and the patient born in different regions and now living inAnkara have been studied. 569 individuals have been grouped in accordance with their sex,age and place of birth. Furthermore hyperthyroid and hypothyroid situation of the patients thatdetermined to be thyroid have been analysed.Our study has been performed with studying the patients blood TSH, FT3 andFT4 value by mini-V DAS ELFA.Age distribution has been proven to be 31-40 and 21-30 with the rate of %31.2hypothyroid and %33.3 hyperthyroid,respectively. Goiter rate were found as %22.5 in menand %23.6 in women. In accordane with the region Ankara has been found as %48.48 patientrate.In our study, most frequent goiter rate in birth place for hyperthyroide andhypothyroide was determined in Ankara and the goiter rate was determined for hyperthyroidein South Eastern Anatolia region and for hypothyroide in Mediterranean region.As a result of our research goiter prevalence has been proven to be %24 inAnkara. According to the data obtained in our research, Ankara is thought to be tend to goiter.
