The analysis of the measurements of the skin surface oil in the women aged between 15-60 years living in the center of Ankara province

SUBJECT : THE ANALYSIS OF THE MEASUREMENTS OF THESKIN SURFACE OIL IN THE WOMEN AGED BETWEEN15-60 YEARS LIVING IN THE CENTRE OF ANKARAPROVİNCEAUTHOR : Gülsuna ÖZBEKABSTRACTDuring the two last decades an increasing number of methods have beendevoloped to determine skin properties in an objective way. The subjective, visual, ortactile evaluation can now be quantified and numerical values are obtanied. Theadvantages of numerical continuous values, compared with non parametric ratings,are well known. With the newly developed instruments, we can even quantify skinproperties unperceptible to the human sensory organs. Instrumental skincharacterization is well appreciated and widely used in cosmetic, dermatologic, andpharmacologic research. These noninvasive instruments permit experimental androutine work on human volunteers in clinical situations.Objective, non-invasive skin surface lipid measurement allow cosmetologists,dermatologists and other scientists to not only to determine skin conelitione but alsoto evalvate the efficacy of pharmacentical and cosmeuceutical products. It is also animportant advantage to know before hand about the gualities of regional, communalnormal skin formation.This research was implemented with a photometric device called sm 815 atSkin and Hair Metrology Lab of Cosmetology. Deparment of Gazi University inAnkara. Evaluation of the forehead skin surface lipid measurements of women agedbetween 15-60 in Ankara are aimed.It was put forward in the study that skin surface lipid changes depending onwomen?s lifestyles, their physical features and environmental conditions.The results of the study show that women in Ankara aged between 15-25have normal skin surface lipid level; 26-40 have normal and oily skin surface lipidlevel and 41-60 have variying skin surface lipid levels. Additionally, it is concludedthat there isn?t a positive relationship between the menstruation period and skinsurface lipid level.
