Dialects of the province of Ankara (text analysis-texts-index)

The subject of this thesis is to establish dialect groups of Ankara province and to analyze phonetic features of the dialect groups with the synchronic and comparative method.This thesis consists of five chapters: Introduction, First Chapter, Text Analysis, Texts and Index. In the Introduction chapter the descriptions of material used and the details of decode methods applied have been given. In the First Chapter of this thesis, general information about the geography, climate, flora and population of Ankara have been given. In addition, history and ethnic structure of Ankara, the studies done on dialects of Ankara upto the present day, Ankara dialects in the classification of Anatolian dialects, dialectical situation of Ankara have been given.In Text Analysis part of the thesis, the phonetic characteristics of the dialects of Ankara is introduced. These characteristics have been attained by the analyzing of texts obtained from center, districts and villages of Ankara. Here, vowels used in Ankara but different from the literary language and their properties, long vowels present in the dialects of the province of Ankara, short vowels, vowel harmony, vocalic alternation, elisions, vowel derivations and the reasons for their existence have been covered. Moreover, the topics; voicing, devoicing, spirantisation, liquiding, consonant assimilation, consonant disappearence, consonant anaptyxis, geminate, contraction, haplology, metathesis and accent etc. have been analized in the title of properties of consonants used in dialects of Ankara but different from literary language and consonant mutations. In the conclusion chapter, results that we have determined the properties of Ankara dialects have been given item by item. Information about references used in this research has been presented in reference part.In the Texts part, texts that have been recorded from the residential areas within and around Ankara and which have been the main resouces of this research have been given.
