The analysis of the playgrounds choosen by the children age between 6-10 in the different levels of district's in ankara

ABSTRACT THE ANALYSİS OF THE PLAYGROUNDS CHOOSEN BY THE CHİLDREN AGE BETWEEN 6-10 IN THE DİFFERENT LEVELS OF DİSTRİCT?S İN ANKARA Tabak, Hatice Nilüfer Master Thesis, Department of Child Development and Education Supervisor: Yard.Doç.Dr. Hatice POYRAZ April 2007, 162 Page The aim of this research is to explore the outdoor playgrounds which are important in childhood and to specify the children and parents ideas. It has been determined the streets and roads, home entrances, free open space and playgrounds which are chosen as a playground by children in the districts of diffrent socialeconomic levels in Ankara and acquired total 380 parents and 383 children ideas with interview technique by the researcher.The cumulated datas were coded mathematically, evaluated by the Chi-square Test. At the conclusion of the research 1- It has been seen that most of the playgrounds are not enough in point of number and position and because of they are not suitable for age between 6-10 , the children play in housegarden and streets. 2- It has been seen that in the high SES area the playgrounds equipments are not enough and in the low SES area the playgrounds are far and insafe. And also it has been find that in all of the three SES areas the playgrounds are very close to the roads. 3- It has been understood that the parents want the areas far from traffic, children wants gren areas. 4- It has been found that the children play outside more and more in the low SES. There is sexuality difference about playing times and frequences. viii 5- It has been determined that the physical and social safety in playgrounds in the districs of the low SES area is a problem and the parents don?t give permission to their children to play outside alone. The playgrounds must be planned firstly thinking the children by the colloboration of child development specialist?s.
