Abstract (EN)

Traffic, with its own flow and layout which provides transportation roads by using regularly for pedestrians and vehicles of all kinds, is one of dangerous areas of the highest participation in human life. Some certain and specific rules are predicted for the drives, pedestrians, passengers, vehicle and travel that use road in order to ensure traffic safety and establish a smooth and orderly traffic flow. The vertical and horizontal traffic signs are at the beginnig of these rules.Everyone of the vertical and horizonal traffic signs which are used for ensuring safe, smooth and orderly traffic flow has special functions reported different meanings and responsibilities. Drivers and pedestrians can respond to true and effectively towards dangers if they meet correctly their expectation about road by the mediation of the information obtained from vertical and horizontal traffic signs.The purpose of this study, traffic safety provided on highway is displayed the importance of vertical and horizontal traffic signs and the effect of vertical ve horizontal traffic signs confirmed for ensuring regular and smooth traffic flow.In this context, the work area is selected as Ankara Sıhhiye Junction, Kolej Junction, Demirtepe and TRT Junction of covering the Kızılay region?s vertical and horizontal signs are examined, confirmed decreases and faulty and/or determined error applications.Using the data obtained, according to Traffic Signs Hand Book (TSH) the comparisons are made and shown in comparison with the features and markings needs to be done.
