Abstract (EN)

With our study, we aimed to determine the possible effects of HLA B27 gene positivity and negativity on biochemical blood count parameters in patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) and to evaluate whether these blood count parameters can be a preliminary marker in Ankylosing Spondylitis by subjecting the results to a statistical evaluation. The sample group of our study consisted of patients with a preliminary diagnosis of AS. As a result of genetic analysis, 136 patients with AS with HLA B27 positive tissue type and 136 patients with AS with HLA B27 negative tissue type were included in the study. The outpatient follow-up files of the patients were scanned and demographic characteristics, genetic pedigree information, biochemical laboratory findings and HLA B27 test results were recorded, and the study was designed. The relevant biochemical parameters and HLA B27 gene analysis results were retrospectively recorded and analyzed. Biochemical measurements such as CRP, RDW, MPV, WBC, neutrophils, lymphocytes, ESR, PLT and PCT were obtained retrospectively from the patient files of the Medical Genetics Department outpatient clinic. HLA B27 genetic analysis of the patients was performed by Real Time PCR. Statistical analyzes were performed using SPSS version 20.0.0. Intergroup differences in demographic data and biochemical parameters were evaluated by Student's t test or Mann-Whitney U analysis according to the distribution. The significance level was taken as p≤0.05. As a result, the median values of all biochemical parameters of HLA B27 positive patients were statistically significantly higher than those of the negative group (p<0.05).
