Examination of the relationship between parental attitudes and psychological mindset

The main purpose of this research is to reveal the relationship between parental attitudes and the level of psychological mindset. In the sub-objectives, there is a comparison of both parental attitudes and the level of psychological mindset according to demographic variables. Within the scope of this purpose, the research was designed in cross-sectional type. The sample group of the research consists of 315 individuals living in the European side of Istanbul. These individuals, aged 18 and over, were selected by convenient sampling method. Research data; The Personal Information Form was collected with the Perceived Parental Attitudes Scale and the Balanced Index of Psychological Mentality and analyzed in the SPSS 24 statistical program. At the end of the research, it was determined that 73.7% (232 people) of the participants were women and 26.3% (83 people) were men. Significant differences were found in parental attitudes in terms of marital status, mother attitude, father attitude, age group, education level, father education level, mother education level and number of siblings. In addition, it was concluded that there were significant differences in the psychological mindedness levels of the participants according to gender, marital status, maternal attitude, father's attitude, education level and mother's education level. In addition, it was concluded that the dimensions of parental attitude were related to psychological mindedness and had a significant effect.
