Abstract (EN)

This is a qualitative study which has been done with the aim of determine the views of students and teachers about problems that the first and second grade students, which have divorced parents, are living in school, home and social environments.The research has been done in the province of İstanbul, Kadikoy district within the boundaries of different 4 primary schools, in 2008 - 2009 education and instruction year. The study of group is consisted of 33 students in different grade levels and their 20 class teachers and class guidance teachers in different branches. With these 33 students and 20 teachers in the study were interviewed.The interview forms which contain questions in the form that they will describe the problems that the students, which have divorced parents, are living after the divorce process, in school, home and social environments. Applying to expert view, these forms have been arrenged by the researcher.In analyzing the data, in analyzing the quantitative data which gained from the personal information forms, frequency calculations have been used. And for the qualitative data which were obtained from interviews qualitative contextual analysis has been done. The reached findings have been listed below.1- Students with divorced parents, showed declines in attending school, their interest on lessons and classes and achievement levels2- Students, who carry the negative effects of divorce on, in the class of restless, unstable and incompatible behaviors that have emerged.3- Receiving social support from close friends for the students with divorced parents, was concluded that an important factor in the process of adaptation to divorce4- The students, who are in the process of adaptation to divorce, can take their parents love, care and support, after the divorce process, they were less trouble.5- Teachers, who have student with divorced parents in their class, are interested in the social relevance of that students has emerged as an important factor in the process of adaptation to divorce.Key Words: Primary Education, Children with divorced or separated parents, Communication Problems
