iii ABSTRACT An Investigation of the Effect of the Mother Training Program on the Family Relations Perceptions of Low-Socio Economic Level Parents With 4-6 Years Old Children The aim of the study is to analyse the effects of "Mother Training Program" on the perceive of the family relations by mothers and fathers. Program was offered to those mothers with 4-6 years old children. Mothers in the sample are selected from those living in Sincan Social Center.They voluntarity participated in the study A total of 40 mothers were the subjects of the study (20 in the control, 20 in the experiment group). The design of the study includes pretest, post test and control group.The program was developed by the author.The training program included seven seaons for seven weeks (90 minute per a week).Control group did not receive any training. In order to measure the views of both parents on the family relations Family Assesment Scale (FAS) (Bulut 1990) was used.lt was administrated as pretest and post test. In order to make comparisions between groups, two-way ANOVA was used. The Kruskal Wallis test is used to make comparisions between pretest and post testScores the Mann-Whitney U-test is employed for pretest-posttset comparisons of experiment mothers according to the number of children. It is found that statistically sicnificant improvement occurred in the views of experiment mothers regarding family relations as a result of the training program (p >.001). However any such improvement was not found in the control group (p> 0.05).IV The changes observed in the experiment group from pretest to posttest are not influenced by the number of the chilren and the age of mothers (p < 0.05). Based on these finding it is possible to conclude that Mother Training Program leads to positive changes in the family relations.Thus, the use of such programs are recommended.
