Abstract (EN)
From the begining of the human life people used clothes to protect themselves from nature, but later on clothing has gained a meaning of behaviour which they used it to express themselves in the society. When the history of clothing is studied, it may easily be seen that it was not only important for adults, it was important for the children too. The importance of clothing may be seen from some paintings of the famous painters. As it?s said before; as similiar with the adults for children, clothing is a kind of way for expressing themselves. Choosing their clothes according to their characters is extremely important for their physicological and sociological growth. This can be only possible when they become at a certain age. Before that age for instance at the ages between zero and two babies don?t have the ability of choosing their own clothes, for this reason their mothers make the preference and purchase. The years between zero and two are the most important years in babies growing up period. Most of the differences occurs in these years, for example the baby gains walking ability from laying position, because of all these changes, range of garment types spreads more than the other years. At this point the bigger responsibility belongs to the babies clothing producers. Producers have to carry out a great and realistic market analysis. Knowing and understanding the mothers demand on their babies clothes is extremely important for the manufacturers inside the sector. This study is prepared to understand the mothers demand on their zero and two year old babies clothing and to be a source for the further studies on similar subjects. We hope that this study will be agood source for the babies clothing sector as a kind of market search as well. Keywords; babies clothing, organic textile, ecological textile, textile finishing processes During the research, at the data collection period some questions are asked to the 0-2 year old baby owned mothers about whether they give importance to their babies clothes external properties like its model, its colour, its printings...etc., or they give importance to being stain proofness, anticrease, quick dry, functionality, ergonomy..etc. or they give importance to being antibacterial, produced from natural fibers, famous branded, at reachable price... etc. This research has done in the capital city Ankara. In order to reach the sample group easily, the volunteers is chosen from the children?s hospitals and preschools in Çankaya. The sample group is composed of 250 volunteer mothers who are chosen randomly. The results are generalised to the mothers who live in the town Çankaya, in Ankara. The research universe is composed of the 0-2 year old baby owned mothers in town Çankaya in Ankara. The data giver volunteers are choosen from Çankaya because the people who live in this town are more educated and their purchasing behaviour is more than the other towns. This research is trying to determine a consumer behaviour so that the people in Çankaya town are thought as more conscious and have more purchasing frequency. The data collected from the research is analysed by a statistical package programme called E-views. The demographic features of the sample group is given by frequency tables. For the results of the research, the percentage and frequency distributions of the data are obtained and in order to find out whether there is a statistical relationship between the demographic features of the sample group and the other questions by cross tables. At the end of the study, it is determined that mothers prefer finishing operations which provide easy usage. Even they prefer their babies clothes organic, they haven?t got enough information about organic textile certificates and ökotex certificate. The mothers don?t give enough attention to buying garments produced by natural fibres. And finally it is determined that the mothers don?t have enough knowledge about harmful prints and dyes. Some suggestions are proposed to raise the consciousness level of 0-2 year old baby owner mothers about organic textile, ökotex certificate and certification in garments, the necessity of finishing operations, harmful chemicals in textile. The awareness about all these topics may be provided by the co-operation with legal agents, social associations, consumer unions.
