Antakya (Antiocheia), located in the Eastern point of Mediterranean region, is a city which is established in Western side of Silpius Mountain (Habib-i Neccar)-prolongation of Kel Mountain which constitutes the beginning of Southern Toros Mountains- and in the coast of Asi River which takes its sources from El Bekaa Valley-between Lebanon and Antilebanon mountains- and passes through Syrian territories and reaches Mediterranean after it constitutes nearly 30 km border of Turkey and Syria. Antiocheia was established by King Seleukos I. Nikator who is one of the commanders of Alexander the Great in B.C. 300. The city came under imperium of Rome in B.C. 64 and became the center of Syrian shire of Roman Empire that certainly terminates the Seleukid Government, and a transition point that links east to center. In Roman era, the city of Antiocheia became one of the most important centers in terms of architecture that makes and about public spheres. There are many public shapes and spheres that enable to construct interpersonal meetings and connections. One of these is bathes. Since ancient times, the constructions of bathes have taken place in an important point of daily life. In time, even if these constructions underwent changes many times both in terms of designing and functionality, they never lost their special position in urban life. Five volumed was published in Antakya as the result of excavation work that is excavated in 1930s. In these books, two constructions of bathes were defined. These were Narlıca and Çekmece bathes near to Antakya that is the central district of Hatay. These bathes can contribute to not only Antakya and social life of term but also the improvement of typology of bathes. This project aims to reevaluation of Narlıca and Çekmece bathes and datas and archeological remains that was found in Antakya and around in recent years.
