Abstract (EN)
In this thesis study, the rocks corresponding to the Permian-Triassic passage around Antalya province were investigated. In the scope of the thesis, detailed studies were made on two boundary sections consisting of shallow marine deposits. The investigated sections are the Kemer section consisting of Late Permian Pamucak formation and Early Triassic Kokarkuyu formation, and the Gazipaşa section consisting of Late Permian Yüğlüktepe formation and Early Triassic Sapadere formation. Sedimentological and petrographical features of the samples taken from the related sections were determined and geochemical analyses (stable isotope and element analysis) were carried out. As a result of the stable isotope analyses, δ13C (VPDB) and δ18O (VPDB) values of the samples taken from the two sections were determined. The δ13C values of the Kemer section vary between +0.4‰ and +5.3‰ while δ18O values range from -6.7‰ to -2.7‰. The ranges values and variation throughout the section of the δ13C values from Kemer section show similarities with other Permian-Triassic boundary sections in the world. This indicates that δ13C values of the Kemer section reflect the primary seawater values. The δ13C values of the Gazipaşa section are between -9.4‰ and +1.8‰ while δ18O values range from -10.6‰ to -4.4‰. The δ13C and δ18O values obtained from this section show a wider range of variation than the Kemer section. The uranium concentration and the Ce anomaly (Ce/Ce*) obtained from the Kemer section were investigated to evaluate the redox conditions of the depositional environment. The uranium concentration of the samples in the Kemer section is between 0.1 and 7.5 ppm. The decrease in the U concentration at the end of the Permian (from 2.9 ppm to 0.1 ppm) indicates no or low oxygen depostional conditions. Rare earth element (REE) distributions normalized to PAAS (Post-Archean Australian average shale) of the Kemer section are characterized by enrichment from medium REE (Sm-Ho) and a slight Ce anomaly. Ce/Ce* values were calculated between 0.34 and 0.97.
