Abstract (EN)

The increase in the number of people living in the world and the increase in the numbers of the vehicles have caused the problems in terms of urban. Traffic congestion and loss of capacity due to transportation and irregular parkings are among the most important of these problems. However, as far as the effects of parking on the road network and its size have not been measured extensively, it has always remained superficial. In this thesis, parking studies were conducted on four different road classes (state road, main artery, street, avenue) selected in Antalya city. These data collected by the camera at the Akdeniz University Transportation Laboratory were compiled in a computer environment. In this direciton, a road volume loss map was generated from irregular parkings and the existing data in the road network was processed at the base of the Geographic Information System (GIS). Regular or irregular parking on the road network reduces the road network capacity, thus reducing the average speed value allowed on that link. In the data set constructed in the thesis, the independent variable has been considered as the speed value and the effect of the other data (parking level, strip line quality, road width etc.) on speed have been examined. Statistical analysis program; In the Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS), One way analysis of variance, T-Test and Cross-Table Analysis methods were used to examine the relationships among the data and necessary interpretations were made about the significance levels. According to the T-Test the speed average value; There was a significant difference between road type and pavement parking situation. Road line quality has a significant effect on the parking grade and speed average value. Changes made on these parameters seem to affect the degree of parking and the speed value. Using the results of the statistical analysis, the dissertation was terminated with the presentation of proposals specific to the province of Antalya in order to remove the parking problem from the center or reduce its effect. Transportation demand management strategies are also briefly introduced in the thesis. KEYWORDS: Antalya, Demand management, GIS, Parking.
