Özet (EN)

Throughout history, decoration has always played a significant role in architecture, which is evident across different cultures and periods. This is particularly true in Seljuk architecture, where the importance of decoration is clearly seen. The decorative techniques used during this period were expressed in various forms and figures that carried both aesthetic and symbolic meanings. Although materials and technology have changed over time, the importance of decoration in architecture has remained. This study investigates the influence of Antalya's architecture from the 11th to the 14th centuries on contemporary architecture in Antalya. It focuses on examining Seljuk period architectural works in Antalya and documenting their reflections in today's architecture. A detailed analysis of the decorations on buildings is conducted, examining the use of geometric, figural, vegetal, and scriptural patterns. The study systematically addresses the historical development of Antalya, the evolution of ornamentation in medieval architecture, and its current impacts. Comparative observations on the plates reveal the traces of Seljuk architecture on modern buildings and the transformation of decorative elements. In addition to architectural forms, decorative elements are also examined in detail, emphasizing the significant role of geometric patterns as well as the use of figures and vegetal decorations. The research academically addresses the traces of Seljuk heritage and the evolution of decorative elements in contemporary architecture. In this context, the connections between the architectural heritage of the Seljuk period and the modern architectural structures of Antalya are thoroughly presented. The findings of this study provide significant contributions to both architectural history and current architectural practices. Keywords: Antalya, Medieval Architecture, Anatolian Seljuk State, Ornamentation in Architecture
