Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to analyze the informal music learning processes of the Antalya Yenikapı Romanian musicians and describe their socio-cultural interactions. The historical background of the study includes the Romanian people's migration, socioeconomic situation and musical practices. This is a case study. Interviews were performed with 11 Romanian musicians who live in the Antalya's Yenikapı neighborhood and were from 32 to 65 years old. The data were collected using a semi-structured interview form, and sound recordings were transcribed. Furthermore, the practices of the Yenikapı Romanian Children's Orchestra were recorded in a video. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and interpreted based on the relevant literature. The categories used in the preparation of the interview questions and in the descriptive analysis were that North and Hargreaves (2008) used to explain the informal music learning process: a) context, b) autonomy and ownership, c) learning styles and d) learning content. Mechanisms such as collective and peer learning, authority figures, master-apprentice relationships and learner autonomy were also observed in the informal music learning processes of the Antalya Yenikapı Romanian musicians. Peer learning was quite widely observed, which stood out as a distinctive characteristic of their informal music learning processes and shaped the subsequent studies.
