The philosophy of religion in Anthony Kenny: "Justification" of agnosticism

In this thesis, one of the leading agnostic thinkers of today, Anthony Kenny and his philosophy will be discussed. Even though he was a Catholic priest in his youth (1955-1965), Kenny, who was excommunicated due to his marriage and moved away from the church, was not affected by excommunication, and in later periods he assumed a critical attitude towards belief and disbelief by claiming that there were failures in the evidence for or against the existence of God. Kenny, who wrote many works to express his thoughts, not only stated that he was an agnostic, but also tried to justify why he was an agnostic. In this respect, Kenny is extremely important not only in terms of the problem of agnosticism, but also in the debates on theism and atheism. Our work, titled as The Philosophy of Religion in Anthony Kenny: "Justification" of Agnosticism consists of three parts. In the first part, Kenny's life, works, thoughts and basic philosophical concepts; in the second part, Kenny's views on belief, atheism, theism, evidence, the problem of evil, the nature of morality, the foreknowledge of God and human freedom; in the third part, more specifically, Kenny's agnostic views are included.
