Özet (EN)

Antibiotic resistance is a global problem and it is known that biofilm associated infections are difficult to be treated by conventional antibiotics. For these reasons this study aimed to find a solution for this health related problem. One hundred clinical specimens were collected from hospitalized patients who suffered from urinary tract infection and samples cultured on MacConkey agar to isolate Klebsiella pneumoniae. Among the 29 clinical isolates of K. Pneumoniae. The results showed that 11 strains (37.93%) had multi-drug resistance (MDR). Using Congo red agar and microtiter plate method, the ability of MDR-K. pneumoniae isolates to form biofilms was tested. Visual observation was first used to monitor the evolution of ferric oxide nannoparticles (FeNPs). It was then characterized using UV–Vis spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy studies revealed that the average diameter of the produced FeNPs was 64.50 nm. Temperature, pH and incubation time are all elements optimized for the production of FeNPs in E. coli, the results show that 37 °C, pH 7 and 24 h incubation time the best combinations for this process. The effectiveness of ferric oxide nanoparticles as an antibacterial strategy against MDR K. pneumoniae isolates was evaluated.
