Abstract (EN)

This paper an has focused on the history of Ancient Bithynia region composed an area including cities of Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bolu, Bursa and Anatolian side of Istanbul based an epigraphic findings. In this paper, the history of Bithynia region is tried to be expressed under the light of findings extracted from epigraphic resources. The study is also supported by ancient and modern sources as well as epigraphic ones. Because of its geographical position, many important cities had been established in Bithynia region throughout the history and the region had witnessed many historic events that had occurred during different periods throughout the history ranging from prehistorical period to Persian sovereignty, from colonization period to Hellenistic age and in various periods belonging to Rome, Byzantine and Ottoman empires. This study focuses on 58 tablets. A huge part of the tablets extracted from the cities and arounds in the region belongs to the Roman Empire. Although the region is embodied with full of tablets, the number of historical inscriptions including historical knowledge is relatively lesser.
