Traces of philosophical thought in Ancient Greek tragedies

The birth of philosophy in ancient times can be explained by many political, social, cultural and psychological factors. Tragedies have a great influence on the development of philosophy. Tragedies exhibited the inner world of the Ancient Greek people, where philosophy was born, with all its depth. It is possible to find everything about human life and imagination in that era in tragedies. In this respect, the messages given by the tragedies have preserved their universality throughout history, since they are not only about the unique life style of a nation, but also about the human being in general. Since tragedies reveal all aspects of life in terms of the subject and knowledge they contain, it is quite natural to include philosophy in them. Therefore, the ancient Greek tragic plays should be analyzed better and the messages they give to the society and the individual should be examined from a philosophical point of view. For all these reasons, the philosophical analysis of tragedies, which depict all aspects of practical life in Antiquity, is extremely important. Keywords: Tragedy, Ancient age, Theater
