Abstract (EN)
From antiquity to the present, people in every society have always competed in order to come to forefront and prove themselves. One of the terminologies expressing this situation has been ἡ τιμή/ honor, ris (m) which is the word "honor". This term, which was first encountered in the ancient sources in the VIIIth century BC, was used very closely with the expression hybris (arrogance) in Homer's Ilias, this word was confused with each other and these concepts were intertwined. This honor and commemoration, which was first deified and made to honor them on behalf of the deceased, started to be given to people/emperors over the centuries. The purpose of this thesis is to classify the honorary inscriptions in the cities of Perge (Pamphylia), Phaselis (Pamphylia-Lycia), Termessos (Pisidia), Kibyra (Lycia-Asia Minor) according to their type (agonistic, dedication, etc.) in a periodical, chronological manner. The aim is to consider the similarities and differences of the leading cities of the regions with each other in a chronological perspective. To investigate how and for what reason (political, military, economic basis) the concept of honor was made in different regions and cities of the Mediterranean, in which centuries and in which cities and why it was brought to the fore, how the way this request was perceived by the public and the city, and how reflections on the urban economy will be revealed. In this period, which covers 485 inscriptions and covers the period from the Hellenistic Period to the Vth century AD, the differences and similarities between the cities are also highlighted.
