Abstract (EN)

Anthraquinone is an anthracene derivative which is a polynuclear hydrocarbon with three benzene rings linearly fused. Anthraquinone derivatives has been used for about one-third of all organic dye products over the world. They are widely used in different fields such as quantum dots in semiconducting industry and sensor technology. In addition to their technological importance, anthraquinone derivatives constitute an important class of bioactive compounds for their versatile pharmacological activities such as antimicrobial, antifungal, hypotensive, analgesic, antimalarial, antioxidant and anticancer activities. This thesis has been planned with the aim of obtaining new possible bioactive compounds inspired by the biological importance of antroquinones in the literature. The synthesis of novel anthraquinone-amino acid conjugates were achieved via the reaction of appropriate N-acylbenzotriazole with 2-hydroxymethylanthraquinone. In the frame of this thesis, 15 new amino acid-anthraquinone derivatives were synthesized. The structures of the new synthesized compounds were elucidated by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MS, FT-IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis techniques.
