Story in the interim generation

The community that remained between the second generation of the Reform Era and the Wealth of Knowledge (Servet-i Fünûn) is referred to as the "Interim Generation". This community first verbalized in Turkish Literature by Mehmet Kaplan was adopted by other researchers in coming eras. However, a general uncertainty is dominant on the matters of the historical framework of the Interim Generation and who the artisan members of this community were. This uncertainty arises from the fact that the artisans of the Interim Generation did not possess a common editorial body and that they did not adopt any particular literary understanding. But this situation does not change the fact that the Interim Generation, which was a community that maintained their literary activities from the 1880s until the 1900s, was present in significant activities in the fields of poetry, novels, stories, criticisms, essays, and translation. One literary genre in in which the artists of the Interim Generation Period participated is the story. Mehmed Celâl, Abdullah Zühdü, Ahmed Râsim, Mustafa Reşîd, Vecihi, Ali Kemal, Nabizâde Nâzım, Yusuf Cevâd, Selanikli Tevfik, and many more names wrote stories in this period. Our research discovered 388 stories published in numerous journals, and newspapers and also printed in books that were published in the period between 1880 and 1901. The identified stories have been translated from Ottoman Turkish into Modern Turkish. These stories were later subjected to a detailed examination in terms of themes, structural elements, language, and style.
