Abstract (EN)
One of the most crucial aspect of todays traffic is that drivers do not have enough information about technical characteristics and boundaries of the vehicles they use even though they have deep knowledge of capabilities of the vecihles. In addition they have difficulty in understanding and estimating magnitute of force and energy that needs to be absorbed/applied on the driver and vecihles in case of a accident resulting with crash. Since deaths caused by traffic accidents are regarded as natural occurances in Turkey, they do not get special attention by society other than people directy affected. It is general belief that deaths/injuries caused by traffic accidents are directly propotional to the speed of the vehicles. Being a great factor speed is not the only big factor that produces great amount of energy during collision/crash. Total masses of the vehicles is major factor to increas energy created during collision/crash. Two object with the same speed but with different masses produce different impact on the objects they collide. Because of that intrinsic knowledge, we try to avoid a collision with a big truck but ignore a butterfly with the same speeds. Because of increasing awerness in safety of products, justification of safety is a growing engineering busines. Since the cost of carrying out tests for every case of usage of the products is very big, computer aided simulation to estimate behavior of products is getting increasingly important.Aim of the study is to show the variation of physical properties of vehicles after the collision using a software. Study is focused on elastic collision of a automobile with a truck having a 10 times bigger mass with speeds of 50 km/h and 120 km/h.
