Abstract (EN)

The developments in new communication technologies and the transition of internet journalism to a dimension that allows mutual interaction have also changed journalism, newspapers that want to stand out among their competitors and try to survive economically have had to adapt themselves to this new internet environment. Internet newspapers have had to start implementing a new practice called search engine optimization (SEO) in their own institutions. This study aims to reveal SEO practices, objectives and strategies used in internet journalism. In the research, the SEO contents of Sabah.com.tr, ensonhaber.com, haber7.com and haberler.com,selected by the purposeful random sampling technique, were analyzed by qualitative research method, descriptive data analysis technique was used. According to the results of the research, it was found that there were differences between traditional journalism and internet journalism in terms of news writing, news elements, news sources, the way of making news, and the person who makes the news. On the other hand, when the content produced by SEO editors according to traditional journalism was compared with the 'motivation of reporting in traditional journalism', certain differences were observed in the research. According to traditional journalism, the aim of SEO editors is to be original, to produce everlasting news, to share the news first and to optimize for Google.
