Abstract (EN)

Arab Spring which started in 2011 brought about some radical changes in the MENA area and has resulted in some successful consequences in some countries concerning social transformations and democratization. Whereas, it caused inner conflicts, military coups and international military intervention in some others. Geographical position, population density, deep rooted history and cultural issues are the main factors of Egyptian influence on the Middle East and other Arab nations. Incidents that occurred in the process of Arab Spring in Egypt have some features that could impact the countries which also experienced this process. Relations between Turkey and Egypt showed some improvement in Arab Spring period. Moreover, it reached its climax after the January 25th revolution process after which Muhammed Mursi and Muslim Brotherhood came to power. But this golden period in the bilateral relation could not last long. The incidents that are known as the Rabia Massacre committed by Egyptian army seized control of the government and suspended democratic demands of the country. The crisis that occured with 3rd July military coup has lowered the level of diplomatic representation to charge d'affaires and it has shown an increasing tendency. Moreover, this crisis has not been limited between these states and has expanded over borders which has negatively influenced regional issues such as Libia, Syria anca Eastern Mediterean. On the other hand, despite the fact that no major actors in both nations' governments changed during the process, attempts have been done to reestablish relations as of 2021. This situation reveals the fact that states can open a new page in relations by using diplomatic tools to protect their common interests, although there is no change in the grounds that constitute the basis of diplomatic crises. However, it is still ambiguous how successful and what kind of results the diplomatic traffic between the two countries, which has recently picked up steam, would be.
