Abstract (EN)

Halide Edip's novel Ateşten Gömlek was translated into Arabic by Muhibbuddîni'l El-Hatîb in 1923 in Egypt. Although Egypt appeared to have gained independence during that period, British hegemony continued in the country. This situation had a significant impact on the Arabic translation of "Ateşten Gömlek." The novel Ateşten Gömlek, written by Halide Edip in 1922, was serialized in the İkdam newspaper and later published as a book in 1923. In the introduction of the Thesis, general information about the political situation in Egypt from 1800 to 1923 is provided. In the first chapter, the life, political, and literary activities of Muhibbuddîni'l El-Hatîb are discussed. The second chapter examines ideology, politics, power, canon, and dirigisme, focusing on their influence on literary texts. The third chapter compares the 1923 Ottoman Turkish first edition of Ateşten Gömlek with the Arabic translation published in 1923, analyzing the differences between the two texts.
