Abstract (EN)

It can be argued that the control over knowledge and over its production stage has observed similar stages of the history of the distribution of wealth. Those who acquire the power within the society have attached a great importance to keep the actors of production and distribution of knowledge under their authorities. People who are concerned with the knowledge and thinking have been under the close inspection of the administrations. Press is one of the most important mechanisms that provide knowledge to the society. Press organs have important contributions in providing information, convincing and activating the society. Press organs that have a mechanism of directing and administrating the society undertake important responsibilities in both domestic and foreign policy by the news that they have made. In this study, the effect of press, which is one of the inevitable four aspects of democratic regimes, in the formulation of Turkish Foreign Policy on the Arab-Israeli conflict has been investigated. Press has a capability of directing and administrating the society in domestic politics; it has been argued if it has such capability in foreign policy, as well. The study, at the same time, tries to evaluate the effects of publication policies over the news in the context of an event taking place in the international arena. In these respects, the effect of the press over foreign policy has been identified by scrutinizing the formation of the Israeli state and some certain periods up to date by 10 newspapers that have been published in the national scale and have the capacity of influencing foreign policy.
