ABSTRACTPronouns in Arabic and Turkish- Contrastive Analysis -Koç, AyşegülMaster of Science, Arabic Language and InstructionAdvisor: Prof. Emrullah İŞLERJuly-2006In this study, moving by the strong version of contrastive analysis, throughthe assumption that, some of the difficulties confronted by native speakers of Turkishwhile they learn Arabic, was due to the differences with regards to structure, functionality and meaning between Arabic and Turkish. At the end of contrastive analysis, it was concluded that the two languageshave significant differences mainly in the sentence structure, masculinity, femininityand scope. Meanwhile, if consideration were given to these differences in languagelearning, it would help students foresee their probable errors while they learn Arabic. Finally resolving suggestions were provided to complement these conclusions.
