Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine al-qiyâs (analogy) in Arabic language and to identify its role in Basra and Kûfa's language schools. The study consists of two parts except the introduction and conclusion. The introduction focuses on the aim, scope, methodology and resources of the research. The first part discusses the definition, ruminations and varieties of the concept of al-qiyâs while the second part tries to identify the role of al-qiyâs in Basra and Kûfa's language schools through different grammar subjects. This study showed that Basra and Kûfic grammars use al-qiyâs effectively in language studies. It was also found that al-qiyâs has an important effect on discussions made in the same school or between two schools and on the appearance of different views.
