Vocabulary of Ardahan province Posof district dialect

This study is based on the idiosyncratic vocabulary used from past to present in the dialect of Posof district of Ardahan province, located in the north east of Turkey, on the Georgian border. In order to determine the local words in the aforementioned dialect, first of all, the materials of the thesis author's field dialect compilations, the Dictionary of compilation from the people's dialect in Turkey were scanned, the books, articles, papers belonging to the district of Posof, the dialect studies prepared as doctoral and graduate theses registered in the national thesis center were reviewed, and their dictionary was reviewed. By examining the sections of it, the findings, words, and phrases were investigated in typological connection with the dictionaries of etymology. In the introduction part, the current importance of the subject, its place in the literature, scientific originality, the purpose of the research, the method, the scope of the study, its limits, materials and content are indicated. In the first chapter, information about the district of Posof, social demography and living in the district are given, the phonetic features of the Posof dialect are explained. The main part of the study is the research and findings section. In this section, the identified words are classified according to the areas they belong to and used in daily life, and they are explained with examples of living words, texts used, sentences from dialect collections, idioms, stereotypes, oral folk literature, and minstrel poetry. In the following sections, there are materials from Posof dialect compilations, a list of words specific to Posof dialect, a questionnaire on the awareness of words specific to Posof dialect.
