The effcts of argumantation activities to quality of arguments that secondary school students create when they specify their project

This study was conducted with the aim of guiding the argument behaviors of the 8th grade secondary school students depending on the quality of the written arguments they formed while determining their project assignments. In this research, situation information is given from the qualitative research methods. The study group of the research consists of 28 students studying in the 8th grade of a public secondary school in the city center of Düzce in the 2021-2022 academic year. The study group of the research was used with the easy access method. Written argumentation formula is used as a data collection tool to determine the purpose of the written arguments created by the students participating in the research while determining their project assignments. Information about the argumentation formula was collected before and after the research activities. Giving information about what argumentation is by the researcher, argumentation study and argumentation games, eight combined activities, each of which was 2 lesson hours, in a total of 16 lesson hours were applied. The information collected before and after the research events was analyzed by content analysis. At the end of the research, the argumentation behaviors of the secondary school 8th grade students had a positive effect on the quality of the arguments they formed. It can be ensured that the cards of the students who use argumentation in the estimation of the project assignments are decided. Positive results can occur at the end of students' project assignments by providing argumentation processing in the estimation of project assignments.
