Abstract (EN)
The art of rhetoric, which was used orally by the sophists for the first time in the history of philosophy, has gained a philosophical-scientific form within the scope of written rules as the knowledge of humankind increases. Aristotle has undoubtedly great contribution to the acquisition of a philosophical-scientific form of rhetoric. Prior to Aristotle, Plato widely criticized the attitudes of the sophists against this art and argued that they used the rhetoric to protect their power over society. Aristotle is the first philosopher who wrote critical works on the art of rhetoric. He wrote original ideas about the content of the rhetoric of his work called Rhetoric on this art. Thus, he was the source of all the philosophers who came after him. Fârâbî followed Aristotle and examined the Art of Rhetoric, and he also made original studies on the content of this art. In his work titled Kitab al-Hatabe, Fârâbî thoroughly examines the Art of Oratory. He addresses the relationship between the Art of Rhetoric and other syllogical arts and reveals the original aspects of this art. Aristotle and Fârâbî still shed light on the work done in this field through their work on rhetoric. The aim of this thesis is to examine the infrastructure and content of the the art of rhetoric, which has an important place in both the Aristotelian logic and the Fârâbî logic, and to reveal the original aspects of this art.
