Abstract (EN)

The early Middle Ages are one of the main periods in the ethno-cultural formation of the Central Asian population and adjacent regions. In the second half of the 1st millennium BC, the Turkic, Uyghur Khaganites, the Kyrgyz in Yenisei and the Kimek-Kipchak confederation in İrtysh and a number of other large state unions emerged, reached its peak and collapsed. The tribes of East Kazakhstan, who left countless various archaeological monuments, also took an important part in the formation of these state unions. Among the magnificent monuments of the region are kurgans, stone sculptures, ritual structures, steles and rock paintings. Geographically, the East Kazakhstan region is a steppe and forest-steppe, bounded in the north to southern Siberia. East Kazakhstan has always been an extremely favorable region for human life. Irtysh's wide valleys, fertile lands, magnificent diverse pastures, numerous non-ferrous metal deposits, various game animals have attracted people since the post- Pleistocene period. This region, which connects Siberia and Altai with Zhetysu and the whole of Central Asia, undoubtedly played an important role in the historical development of the peoples. However, our knowledge about the historical events and the development of human culture in this vast space in the Middle Ages is still very inadequate and has not yet gathered a general picture. Partially in research we fill this gap for one of the most important historical periods here. The main purpose of the study is to show the continuity between the cultures in the Middle Ages East Kazakhstan territories and allocated on a chronological scale by analyzing material culture data. The research process covers a wide chronological range (mid-I millennium and beginning of II millennium) and is a regional study. Basic research methods include comparative-typological and retrospective analysis elements. In addition, field research method was used. Keywords: East Kazakhstan, Turkic culture, Kimek-Kipchaks, Monuments of the Middle Ages, Early İron Age Monuments
