Abstract (EN)

Microorganism and viruses cause many diseases gain resistance against drugs and also these drugs have toxic side effects. Therefore, today researchers on synthesis of new pharmaceutical active compounds is increasing. Biological properties of thiosemicarbazone derivatives have been studied since their activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis was first reported. Nowadays many biologically activities of thiosemicarbazone derivatives, according to their subtituents, such as cytotoxic, antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, antiprotozoal, anti-HIV, anticonvulsant and antineoplastic activity have been described. In this study, the starting materials, p-cyanophenyl isothiocyanate and p-methylthiophenyl isothiocyanate were treated with hydrazine monohydrate and then p-cyanophenyl thiosemicarbazide ve p-methylthiopenyl thiosemicarbazide derivatives were obtained. Thiosemicarbazone derivatives were synthesized from the refluxing of p-substitutedbenzaldehyde derivatives with two different p-substitutedphenyl thiosemicarbazides in methanol. Synthesized two thiosemicarbazides and fourteen thiosemicarbazones were original. All reactions in this study, were monitored by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and crude products were purified by crystalization from appropriate solvents. The structures of synthesized compounds were characterized by UV, FTIR, ¹H NMR, 13C NMR (APT), elemental analysis (C,H,N,S), and mass spectroscopy.Key Words: Thiosemicarbazone, thiosemicarbazide, biologically activity and p-substitutedbenzaldehyde
