Pharmacognosic studies on aronia melanocarpa (MICHX) elliot species

Within the scope of this thesis, methanol, 70% ethanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, hexane and water extracts were prepared from the fruits collected from the Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliot plant, which is cultivated in the Kırklareli region. Yield calculations of the extracted extracts were made, chemical contents were clarified with high performance liquid chromatography, total phenolic, total flavonoid and total anthocyanin substance amounts were measured spectrophotometrically and the results were evaluated. DPPH•, ABTS•+, Metal chelation, CUPRAC and Lipid peroxidation methods were used to determine the antioxidant activities of the extracts and the results were evaluated. The MIC values for their antimicrobial activities were determined as bacteria and yeast microorganisms. For the determination of anticancer activity on breast cancer (MCF-7) and cervical cancer (HeLa) cell lines, for the determination of cytotoxic effects on healthy cells, human endothelial (HUVEC) and mouse fibroblast (L929) cell lines The MTT method was used and the extracts were compared in terms of effectiveness. The DNA damage inhibitory effects of the extracts were examined on pBR322 plasmid DNA and the results were evaluated comparatively.
