Arşivdeki çevirmenin izinde: Pınar Kür'ün Özel Arşivi'ne mikrotarihsel bir yaklaşım

This study presents an agent-oriented microhistorical approach to the established author-translator Pınar Kür's Private Papers in the Women's Library and Information Centre Foundation (WLICF) in Istanbul, Türkiye. Although curated primarily as an author's archive, Pınar Kür's Private Papers constitute a rich repository of various materials related to translation practice, performed by Kür as the author-translator and by other agents of translation. Among these materials, the correspondence between Kür and multiple translation agents was selected as the primary source of investigation within the scope of this thesis as it presents a less overtly mediated account of forgotten or overlooked details related to the author-translator's life as well as the lives of other translational agents who have, although periphrastically, found a place in Kür's archive. Complemented with extratextual materials, primarily interviews, found inside and outside the archive, an investigation of the correspondence reveals an insight into the living and working conditions, working practices, and self-perceptions of these agents. Moreover, as a result of the social situatedness of translators and translation, this thesis also offers a sociological perspective on the habitus and telos of the translational agents in its focus. Finally, by providing a portrayal of the interactions and parallels between the translational practices and habitus of translation agents situated in various literary fields between the 1960s and 1990s, this study aims to make a contribution to translator-oriented historiography within the scope of Translator Studies.
