The effect of storytelling with augmented reality applications on english speaking anxiety

In this study, the effect of storytelling assisted by augmented reality (AR) application on students' English-speaking anxiety was examined. The research was carried out using a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group. The study group of the research consists of 47 students studying in the 5th grade in the 2022-2023 academic year. There are 23 students in the experimental group and 24 students in the control group. The duration of the application was planned as 3 hours per week, with a total of 12 lesson hours. Mobile AR supported storytelling was applied to the experimental group. Traditional printed storybooks were used in the control group. English speaking anxiety scale and demographic information form were used to collect the data of the study. The obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS program. As a result of the research, it was seen that there were significant differences between the pre-tests and post-tests of the groups. In addition, a significant difference was found between the speech anxiety levels of the experimental group and the control group in favor of the experimental group.
