Mid-term evaluation functional results of arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs

Objective: To reveal the functional and satisfaction results of the patients we treated by repairing arthroscopic rotator cuff in our clinic and to consider the factors affecting them in detail. Material and Method: 57 patients who underwent arthroscopic cuff repair in our hospital between April 2012 and April 2019 were included in our study. Functional and clinical evaluations of the patients were evaluated with preop-postop QDASH, ASES and VAS scores. In addition, the effects of demographic data, form of occurrence, rupture size, elapsed time, surgical methods, dominant side, additional diseases and pathologies on scores were discussed separately. Results: Twenty of our patients were male and 37 were female. The average age of the patients was 58.8 (39-71 years). Preop-postop changes in patients' ASES, QDASH and VAS scores were statistically significant (p <0.001). Age, additional pathology, DM and HT, tear size, and fatty degeneration were found to be highly effective on scores. 1 patient developed rupture, 1 patient developed adhesive capsulitis, 1 patient developed anchor failure, and none of our 11 patients who underwent tenotomy showed signs of popeye. 43 patients (75.4%) stated that they were satisfied, 6 patients (10.5%) were moderately satisfied, and 8 patients (14%) stated that they were not satisfied with the surgical procedure. Conclusion: Cuff repair using arthroscopic methods; It is a very reliable and advantageous method in terms of controlling intraarticular pathologies, maintaining the function of the deltoid muscle, less postop pain and allowing early rehabilitation. Significant improvement in scores and high levels of satisfaction are possible by applying arthroscopic rotator cuff repair to the appropriate patient, under appropriate conditions, with appropriate time and techniques.
