Abstract (EN)

The culture that binds societies together is an important phenomenon. People adapt to social life by adopting the culture and values of the society in which they live. With the increasing impact of globalization, the preservation of the culture of societies and the transmission of cultural elements and values to future generations have become crucial. In facilitating this transmission, oral folk literature products, especially fairy tales, play a significant role. The aim of this study is to examine the cultural elements and values present in Artvin Folk Fairy Tales. The research method employed is the document analysis technique, a qualitative research method. The dataset for the research consists of the fairy tale books "Fairy Tales and Folk Stories from Şavşat, Ardanuç, and Yusufeli" by Önal (2017) and "Artvin Fairy Tales and Folk Stories" by Şengül (2019). Content analysis was employed to analyze the cultural elements and values in Artvin Folk Fairy Tales. As a result of the study, the cultural elements identified in Artvin Folk Fairy Tales were presented under themes related to the product, thought, and behavior, with a total frequency of cultural elements (f = 2411). Fifty-seven different values were found in the fairy tales, with the frequency of values (f = 871) being recorded. It was concluded that Artvin Folk Fairy Tales are rich in terms of both the frequency and diversity of cultural elements and values. The study determined that these fairy tales play an essential role in the transmission of cultural elements and values.
