Özet (EN)

Economic rivalries and technological developments lead to be made a new research. Recently more researches have been done to obtain new technological materials machinability of these materials constitute an important part of these researches. One of these materials is cold work tool steels. Use of cold work tool steel is very common. They are preferred as a mold or tool materials because of its abrasion resistance and toughness properties. In this study, after the heat treatment AISI D6 cold work tool steel with hardness 62 HRc machined in lathe. In the study, Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) cutting tools used and the experiments have been performed under different cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed and cutting depth). In these experiments, effect of cutting parameters on the tool life and on surface roughness were observed, and finally the mathematical models of tool life and surface roughness were obtained. As a result of the research, it was also observed that while cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut are increasing, the tool life time is decreasing rapidly. Also, the increase of cutting speed reduced the surface roughness . On the other hand, the increase of feed rate and depth of cut raised the surface roughness. The effect of cutting speed and depth of cut on surface roughness was less than feed rate.Key words: Tool wear, Surface roughness, AISI D6, Turning.
