Abstract (EN)

Colorectal cancer is a cancer that starts in the colon or the rectum which parts of the digestive system. Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer in both men and women worldwide and the second principal cause of cancer-related death in the western countries. Studies focusing on acidification of the extracellular milieu of malignant tumors in recent years have shown that it increases the invasive behavior of cancer cells. In normal tissues, production of acid is catalyzed by carbonic anhydrases and one of the inhibitors of carbonic anhydrases is acetazolamide. The aim of this study was to investigate antitumor effect of acetazolamide on SW620 and LS174T cell lines. For this, it was performed three different cell culture techniques on the cell lines and the obtained results were statistically significant (P < 0.05).
