Comparative research on types in Ukrainian and Turkish folk songs about love

Main purpose of this research which is the first of studies in the field of Turkish and Ukrainian folklores, is investigeting (analysis) similarities and differences between types, described in Ukrainian and Turkish folk songs ("türkü") about such universal phenomenon as love. The chief method of paper is method of comparison. Coverage of the thesis is bounded by one hundred Turkish and one hundred Ukrainian folk songs chosen from different folklore books according to certain criteria. The introduction of the thesis contains the definition and classification of Ukrainian folk songs, a short information about each song type, different interpretations of "type" notion. In First Chapter called "Research" lover, beloved, relative, rival types were examined separately with groups of motifs and symbols relating to them, stated similarities and differences were commented. Second Chapter of work consists of original texts of Ukrainian folk songs and their Turkish translation. In the Conclusion a general estimate of work was made, it was found that types desribed in Ukrainian and Turkish folk lyrics are similar in their basis, differences among them depend on Ukraine's and Turkey's geographic features, specifics of Ukrainian and Turkish folks' cultures, religious convictions, perspective to man, woman and their relations.
