A research on outsourcing in military logistics

In a rapidly challenging competitive environment, businesses use many strategies to survive and have the ability to compete. One of these strategies that businesses use is outsourcing, that is, they focus on the basic capabilities of businesses and receive support from specialized supplier companies for their activities that fall outside their basic capabilities. There are many reasons that lead businesses to outsourcing. The primary reason for these is the desire to reduce costs. Businesses whose main purpose is to reduce costs are outside of these purposes; They also tend to outsource to achieve many competitive advantages such as focusing on their core skills, shrinking, increasing flexibility, decreasing risk, following technological innovations, joining successful businesses, renewing processes, reducing investment spending, increasing quality and gaining speed. Of course, the strategy of outsourcing is used in military logistics, which we can define as the implementation and design of all elements that will support the operational capability of a military unit, the related equipment, the material is provided on-site and on time, under favorable conditions, and the preparation and effectiveness in peace and war. However, to which military stage the outsourcing can be used and in which areas of logistics it is appropriate to use is always discussed. In this study, the benefits and disadvantages of outsourcing in the field of military logistics will be analyzed through interviews with experts in the field of military logistics, and with these analyzes, it will be tried to explain in which areas of logistics and to which military stage outsourcing will be appropriate.
