Values education in Asli Der's children's books and the contribution of her works to Turkish language teaching

The aim of this study is to examine children's books belonging to Aslı Der, the author of "Büyük Tuzak" which was selected as the Best Children's Novel of the Year in 2007, in terms of its contribution to values education and teaching Turkish. The sample of our study is composed of works such as "Küçük Cadı Şeroks, Büyük Tuzak, Barış Odaları". Our study was prepared by using document analysis method. The selected works were examined in terms of their contribution to values education according to the values of "justice, caring for family unity, independence, peace, being scientific, diligence, solidarity, sensitivity, aesthetics, honesty, freedom, equality, love, respect, responsibility, saving, patriotism, philanthropy" in the Social Studies Course Curriculum of the Ministry of National Education. The relationship between children's literature and teaching Turkish is shown. In terms of his contribution to teaching Turkish, idioms and proverbs, slogans, reflection words and dilemmas were included in the study. As a result of the study, 193 values in the works examined; 109 idioms, 31 reflection words, 86 duplicates and 33 pattern words were used. Proverbs were not used in the works.
